因为我画每一个壁画，它都必须只能存在于这个位置。你可以复制它到另外一个空间去，但是你不知道它背后的故事是什么。
Each fresco can only exist at a certain location. You may duplicate it to another place, but you will lose the story that sits behind it.
像这幅画叫作《福窑图》，是我最后给三宝画的一个整体的壁画，它介绍的是整个三宝这个村庄 ，整个窑址和制造陶瓷的过程。《福窑图》就是有福的窑址，它也有扶摇直上的意思，而上面那个“束海”，就是刚才讲的，制作泥坯的过程的神仙。
As for this one, Fu Yao (literally means a blessed kiln), which is the last complete fresco I painted for Sanbao village. It introduces this village, the kiln site and the process of how to make the ceramics. Fu Yao means a lucky kiln site, it also has the meaning like to skyrocket (here it implies a thriving and prosperous business or trade). While Shuhai, the god who controls the process of preparing clay, as I just mentioned a little ago, is sitting at the top.
这个“披石”讲的就是调釉的神仙，因为釉的原料，做釉的原料是山上的石头，把这个石头压碎磨成粉，再加上一些水，然后就会变成披在陶瓷外表的那一层，烧完以后的那一层釉，就好像你把坚硬的石头披在了身上，变成了彩色的外衣一样。
As for Pishi, he is the god who is in charge of enameling. The material for enamel comes from the rocks in the mountain. We grind the rocks and mix water with the powder. Later it is applied to the outer layer of the ceramics. After the ceramics go through the kiln, the enamel becomes a colorful coat which is actually a lay of powder of rocks.
所以这里面《福窑图》我写的是束海于泥，披石为彩，聚瓦集柴。有聚瓦的神仙和捡柴的神仙，然后煮雾调云。这个“花焰”就是掌管花的神仙，“调云”就是掌管烟和整个氛围的神仙。
In this fresco, Fu Yao, I wrote Shuhai who is in charge of the clay, Pishi who is in charge of enamel, Juwa (literally means to collect roof tile) and Jichai (literally means to gather firewood) coming to help also. All those gods are getting together and making things happen. This god Huayan is managing the flower, while Tiaoyun is in charge of smoke and atmosphere.
我把整个做陶瓷的所有过程，每一个步骤，都画成了一个小神仙在这上面戏耍。
When I designed the fresco to portrait the whole process of making ceramic, I imagined that in each step there is a little spirit who was in charge and playing.
然后后面鼓灶击香，这个“击香”是我非常喜欢的一个神仙，它讲的是一种非常快乐非常热烈的状态，其实他讲的是，就是给我们做饭的神仙啦，也是灶神，但这个时候我已经不再用灶神这个名字了，我用的是“击香”。“击香”就好像打鼓一样，用力的一下一下把香气击打出来。同时，它也是吉祥的意思，我认为这种状态的神仙对我来说，我更喜欢它是一个新鲜的，属于我自己的神仙。
The god who is controlling the cooking is Jixiang. He is always in such a happy mood. We used to call him Zaoshen (god of the oven, kitchen). Here I didn't use that name. I called him Jixiang, which literally means to punch something very hard to push the flavor out. It also rthym with another Chinese word 吉祥 (ji xiang, which means auspicious, propitious) . I love the fresh feeling of this god, and it is my own god.
所以当我带着这种壁画定制的心态开始到全世界各地画壁画的时候，一切就变得特别有意思。然后这个是我第一次，李老师带着我去意大利交流的时候，我在意大利米兰附近的一个小镇上画的壁画。
It became more and more interesting when I started to paint commissioned frescos around the world. Next, I will tell you a story happened when Teacher Li and I went to Italy for an event. I was supposed to paint a fresco in a little town nearby Milan.
当时我因为时差的原因，所以感到很不舒服，所以前三天我完全没有动。但是当地的外国人就非常生气，然后就用英语跟李老师吵起来了。就是我听不懂英语，但是我知道他们很激动。
Three days after I arrived, because of jetlag, I felt very sick and didn't do anything. Our clients felt angry and quarreled with Teacher Li. I didn't understand English, but I could see that they were very emotional at that time.
所以我知道第四天我无论如何也要开始画画了，但第四天我其实还在发烧，但这个时候外国人就来了大概二十多个人就在那看着我，就盯着我画画。
Well, I knew I had to start painting on the fourth day. With the companion of about twenty foreigners watching me, I began to paint even under the influence of fever from which I was still suffering.
当时我不仅没有草稿，连腹稿都没有，但是我必须得开始画，所以我当时就画出了这张画。其实当第一笔上去的时候，我通过眼睛就可以了解他的头在哪儿，画完了头我就知道他的肩在哪儿，画完了肩我就能够找手肘找腰的位置，同时我就可以开始穿插云啊、海啊、浪啊和其他的神仙，整个的构图。在这之后我画壁画就真的是连腹稿都不用打。 （截至 8：44）
At that time, I didn't have any draft, even I didn't have any idea in my mind. But I had to pick up my brush, and I painted this one. Right after I put on my first stroke, my eyes could vision where his head should be, then his shoulder, elbow, waist. And the same time, I already knew where to add in the clouds, sea, waves, and other gods. The whole design just revealed itself in my mind. From then on I can start painting without any preparation beforehand. ( Until 8:44)

景德镇的三宝村是一个国际交流的艺术村，当时全世界的所有的艺术家，到现在为止来来往往、走走停停，都会在这个村子里驻场、工作、交流。
Sanbao village is an international cultural exchange center in Jingdezhen. Artists from around the world have been visiting this village since then. They set up workshops and exchange ideas with each other.
所以我非常有幸在这个地方留下了我的作品，就像向世界交出了一张我的名片一样，所以我的壁画其实就是从这个时候开始让很多人知道。
I am very lucky to leave my artworks here. They are my ID card that introduces my fresco to the world.
而我更加幸运的是，我在这个地方开始画壁画，李老师会一面墙一面墙地给我，我觉得如果我在北京，能够有一张很大的纸或一张很大的布都很难得。
I am very lucky that Teacher Li gave me plenty of walls to practice my painting skills. If I were in Beijing, it would have been difficult to find a large size paper or cloth.
我可以有一面接一面的墙开始创作，而且这种墙都是直接建在山体上，我相当于直接画在大山的脚下。
I had been practicing painting on those walls, which were built alongside the hill. So I was painting directly at the foot of the hill.
这一面墙我是画在李老师的厨房里，画的是喜神携众调料下凡图。这个时候我已经开始跟李老师开玩笑，所以喜神是一个真正的神仙，他带的其他的神仙都是什么，大葱啊，大蒜啊，八角啊，咖喱，就是因为这是在餐厅里的一幅壁画。
I painted this wall at Teacher Li's kitchen. The theme of this picture is about the God of Happiness coming to the mortal world together with all the condiments. At that time, I already started a playful way in painting for Teacher Li. Since this painting is in the dining room, the God of Happiness is real, his companions, the other gods such as the Green Onion, the Garlic, the Star anise, the Curry, etc, are included.
然后我画完这幅壁画，其实它只经过了五年，现在可以看一下这幅壁画现在的样子。就是你画在墙上的状态和画在纸上的状态是不一样的，而我正好把我的壁画画在了山上。
Now you can see what it looks like five years after I finished this fresco. To paint on a wall and to paint on a paper, the whole progress is different. I happened to paint my fresco on the hillside.
那是时间给了它另外一个材质，这个材质不是我们平时在室内的纸和我们的灯光能够给予我们的。就像刚才那张画，我瞬间就以为，我自己有时候都相信其实那张画是两百年前画在那儿的，然后我只不过是偶然在那儿发现了它，然后把它描绘出来。
Time has granted it another trait, which is not available when we paint on paper indoors. Just like the fresco I mentioned, it gives me a feeling as if it was painted two hundred years ago, and I found it by accident, then helped it reveal itself.
这是我在安徽的一个古镇里画的壁画。当时非常有趣，我正在画这张壁画的时候，画在当地一个老宅子里，很多当地人都在那儿参观。他们都应该知道这幅画是新画在上面的，但是我听见村民互相问，说这是在画什么，然后其他人说，这是在做壁画修复。
I painted this one at an ancient town in Anhui Province. It was quite funny that when I was painting this fresco in an old house, many local people came to watch. They were supposed to know that I was painting a new picture on the wall. But I heard some of them were asking what I was painting, and others were saying that I was repairing an old painting.
其实我才刚刚在那里画，而且我是连夜就用了三天，就把这张画画完了。走的时候，我觉得当地的村民，他们已经可以在流传说，这个其实是很早以前就在这里的一张壁画了。
Actually at that time, I just started painting. In three days, I finished the whole painting. Before I left that town, I guessed that many local people believed my newly painted fresco had been there a long time ago.
但是对我来说最重要的除了壁画是时间给了我的一个错乱感，我认为我的壁画最重要的其实不是说它的手法，或者我不打稿，或者说我上了色等等。但我觉得我最重要的，只是壁画让大家认识了我。但我真正想给大家讲的是，我在壁画背后的故事。（截至 5：50）
My frescos make me feel I have been on time traveling. It doesn't really matter what technique I use, or whether I draw draft first or not, or the color I choose. It's important for me that my frescos let more people get to know me. Right now, what I really want to tell everyone is the stories behind my fresco.

A Girl Named Wen Na -- Part 1
I watched this video the other day and really like it. So I am going to use this video clip as my translation practice, also a listening practice for you, the Chinese learners. :)
In this video, a girl named Wen Na, who is a wonderful painter and writer, talked about how she started her journey of painting fantasy images on the wall (fresco) . When she painted those pictures, she also created stories in her mind to help her painting. Her frescos were so fantastic that she was invited to paint in many places in China and some other countries. She also wrote down those stories that inspired her to design her paintings.

我来今天给大家介绍一下我的作品。
Today I want to introduce my artworks to everyone here.
三宝是一个对我来说非常重要的地方，它是在景德镇的一个山谷里。
Sanbao is a very important place for me. It locates in a valley at Jingdezhen.
(Sanbao is short for SanbaoInternational Ceramic Art Village Museum. It is located at Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, China)
这个地方当时我无意中闯了进去。它完全是在一个纯出自然的地方。我当时特别想留在这里。而我当时认识了那儿的主人李老师。然后李老师说：“我可以让你在这里参加我的一个展览，但是你可以给我一个什么样的作品呢？”
I found this place by accident. This place is so natural. At that time, I really wanted to stay there. I met the founder, Teacher Li. Li asked me, " Would you like to join one of my exhibitions? What kind of artwork are you going to present? "
当时，我为了能让李老师对我留下深刻的印象，我当时就不知道灵机一动，我说：“您可以给我一面墙，一面夯土做的墙。我给你画一面画， 我给你画一面墙。”
I wanted to give Teacher Li a good impression. So I got an idea. I said," If you give me a wall, an adobe wall. I will paint a picture on it. I will paint the whole wall for you. "
然后我没有想到李老师他就真的给了我那么一面墙， 然后他真的打电话说：“你来吧，我把那个墙给你砌好了。”
I didn't expect that Teacher Li really gave me a whole adobe wall. He called me, " Come over, I already built a wall for you."
但是，在那之前，我只有拿马克笔把我的画画在墙上的经验。然后我从来不知道真正面对一个夯土墙的时候该怎么办。
But until then, I only had some experience with painting on the wall using a marker. I didn't know what to do when I faced an adobe wall.
但是因为我是版画系毕业的，所以我对材料…… 虽然我从来没有动过毛笔，画过国画，没有动过这些念头，但当我面对这堵墙的时候，我就第一次拿起了毛笔。
Since I studied etching in the college, I knew some of the painting material. Even though I had never used a brush to paint the classic Chinese painting before, I picked up a brush when I faced a whole adobe wall.
然后可以看到在这幅画上，我其实没有打稿的，因为我不知道怎么能在夯土墙上打稿，所以当时我就画了这样的一幅画。
You can see that I didn't draw a draft before I painted on the wall. I didn't know how to do it. So I painted this picture.
这个是画在那个村子的餐厅的门口，我画这幅画大概用了六个小时，这个时候我用的神仙的元素，只是因为我觉得它特别适合那个山村，是一种纯出自然的选择，所以我当时画了灶王爷、杜康和陆羽，是茶神和酒神在那里保佑着他们。
The painting locates near the entrance of the village restaurant. It took me about 6 hours to finish this painting. I took some spirit as the theme. I just felt that it fit that village. It's a natural option for me. So I painted Zaowangye ( the Kitchen God), Dukang (God of wine), and Luyu (God of tea). It represents that those village people are blessed and protected by these gods.
所以这一切…… 那个时候我还是很胆怯的，虽然我画的时候很快，但是我不大敢去做很多的延伸，但是紧接着我就在那个村子里就这样留住了，但是我当时对陶瓷这些东西还是距离比较远的，所以我还是以绘画的形式在那里创作。
Everything ... I was a bit scared then. I didn't dare to expand my theme too far, even I painted very quickly. Then I stayed in the village. At that time, I wasn't familiar with ceramics, so my arts just focused on painting.
当时我就说：“能不能让我在你村口的那面墙上画？把它都画满？” 当时李老师说：“那个是我的脸，如果你在这上面画的话，你就是在我的脸上画画。” 然后我就开始画了。
I asked (Teacher Li), " Can I paint on the wall at the entrance of the village? I will paint the whole wall." Teacher Li said, " That's my face. If you paint on it, you are painting on my face. " Then I started to paint on that wall.
当时画这面墙的时候，其实是我已经开始自己创造神仙了，这个过程是没有什么缓慢的过程，就是因为当时露了这一面黄色的墙。我觉得我想写点什么，当时我刚刚开始接触陶瓷，所以当时我就开始编撰了一个神仙叫作“束海”，是束缚的束。
Before I painted on that wall, I already started to invent my own spirit. It's a sort of fast process. When that yellow wall was revealed in front of me, I had some story in my mind. Since I just started know more about ceramics, I created a spirit named Suhai. (Su means bundle, hai means ocean)
就是海是没有形状的，海是由水组成的，水你是抓不住它的。而当我在景德镇的时候，我们有泥土这个介质，当水渗进泥土里，你抓住这个泥土，你就好像把整个海一样的水抓在了手里，你可以任意塑造水的造型。 所以我画了这个就是叫“束海”， 就是能够控制水的神仙。他可以在这里保佑你，把每一个泥捏成你想要的形状。 （ 截至 3：17）
Ocean doesn't have a specific shape. Ocean is made of water. You can not grasp the water. At Jingdezhen (a city famous for its ceramics), we had clay as the medium. We added water into the clay, we held the clay as if we were holding the ocean in our hands. And we could turn its shape into anything we wanted. So I painted this figure Suhai, a spirit who can control the water. He can protect you and bless you, so you can creat anything with the clay. ( Till 3:17)

draw turkey 画火鸡

我呢先画这火鸡的眼睛。
First, I will draw the turkey's eyes.
现在我画火鸡的嘴巴和它鼻子上面的肉垂。
Now I am drawing the turkey's mouth and the snood on its
nose.

A Splendid Evening -- a Chinese Listening Practice
One day, I had a very dramatic evening. The drama was about the weather. So I wrote a short passage to tell you what happened. And here comes a listening practice for you, my dear Chinese learners. Let's see how much you can understand. ;-P

A Splendid Evening
1：下午我在回家的路上，偶然注意到天空的云朵如同正在长高的城堡，非常壮观。
This afternoon, on my way home, I noticed that the clouds looked like castles growing higher and higher in the sky. They were so gorgeous.
2：晚饭后，窗外的天色迅速转暗，耳边传来隆隆的雷声。透过窗玻璃，可以看到雨水在狂风的引导下，着了魔一般地四处奔跑。
After supper, very quickly, it became darker and darker outside. The thunders could be heard rolling and rumbling above. I looked out of the window. Pushed by the wind, the rain were running in every direction.
3： 西北面的天如同古典的油画，黑压压的乌云几乎覆盖了整个天空，西沉的阳光及时地为它们镶上了金边。
The sky in the northwest looked like a classic oil painting. Dark clouds almost covered the entire sky. Right in time, the setting sun decorated the clouds with inlaid golden edges.
4： 再向东边的天空望去，快看！一道彩虹正在向我问好。哦，多么精彩的一个傍晚！
